چکیده
cular Cell Adhesion Molecule-1 (VCAM-1), mediating a more sustained leukocyte adhesion to the endothelium. Chemokines attract monocytes and lymphocytes to the area allowing for their subsequent interaction with the endothelial adhesion molecules. Monocytes migrate between the endothelial cells and in response to a variety of chemical factors, mature into macrophages and express “scavenger receptors” on their surface. These macrophages ingest the modified LDL and become foam cells. The foam cells, and to a lesser extent T-lymphocytes, form the “fatty streak”, the earliest form of atherosclerotic plaque.

Prognostic value of C-Reactive Protein in Acute Coronary Syndromes
Introduction: Coronary artery disease (CAD) is among the most common, serious, chronic and life- threatening illnesses in the world. CAD represents a spectrum of conditions, with acute myocardial infarction at one end of it and silent ischemia at the other. There is growing evidence on importance of prognosis of C- reactive protein (CPR) in unstable angina and this protein is a maker of an adve...
متن کاملPathophysiology of Coronary Thrombus Formation and Adverse Consequences of Thrombus During PCI
Atherosclerosis is a systemic vascular pathology that is preceded by endothelial dysfunction. Vascular inflammation "fuels" atherosclerosis and creates the milieu for episodes of intravascular thromboses. Thrombotic events in the coronary vasculature may lead to asymptomatic progression of atherosclerosis or could manifest as acute coronary syndromes or even sudden cardiac death. Thrombus encou...
متن کاملPathophysiology of acute coronary syndromes
Acute coronary syndromes (ACS) comprise a spectrum of clinical conditions, initiated by rupture of an atherosclerotic coronary plaque with overlying acute thrombosis. The consequences of thrombosis include direct obstruction of blood flow to the coronary beds, as well as distal embolization of the platelet-rich thrombus. Both of these processes may lead to myocardial ischemia and may progress t...
متن کاملAcute Coronary Syndromes: From Pathophysiological Pathways to Pharmacological Challenge
The clinical presentation of ischaemic heart disease includes stable and unstable angina pectoris, silent ischaemia, myocardial infarction, heart failure and sudden death [1]. For many years, unstable angina has been considered an intermediate syndrome between chronic stable angina and acute myocardial infarction. In recent years, its pathophysiology has been clarified and acute coronary syndro...

Introduction & Objective: Ischemic injury of endothelium is associated with prostaglandin synthesis and platelet adhesion and aggregation, which may be associated with the release of aldehydes such as malondialdehyde (MDA). C-reactive protein and cardiac troponin I have been proposed as diagnostic markers of acute coronary syndromes. In this study, we compared the usefulness of plasma MDA as a ...
متن کاملPathophysiology of coronary artery disease leading to acute coronary syndromes
Acute myocardial infarction (AMI) and sudden cardiac death (SCD) are among the most serious and catastrophic of acute cardiac disorders, accounting for hundreds of thousands of deaths each year worldwide. Although the incidence of AMI has been decreasing in the US according to the American Heart Association, heart disease is still the leading cause of mortality in adults. In most cases of AMI a...
